Androgel
Androgel is commonly used in treatments for low testosterone and has quickly risen in popularity. There’s no doubt you’ve seen commercials advertising treatment for “Low-T” which is short for “Low Testosterone.” Unknown to many, Androgel is an Anabolic steroid; the use of Androgel is no different than the use of the “Evil” substances you’ve heard reported in the news for years and years. The only significant difference is Androgel is a topical cream, while most other anabolics are administered via injection or tablet form.
Androgel Side-Effects
Like all forms of anabolics Androgel is not free from side-effects but it should be noted all medications of all forms carry possible side-effects, even aspirin and as with all side-effects they are possible, not guaranteed. The most common side-effects of Androgel use are similar to other forms of testosterone medications; although they are the most common they do not occur in the majority of users. Side-effects include but are not limited to:
- Gynecomastia
- Acne
- Headaches
- Water Retention
- Increased Body Hair Growth
Some individuals who use Androgel have reported lower than desirable sex drives but this is very rare; after all, one of the primary purposes of Androgel use is to increase sex drive in individuals who suffer from low or no sex drive; however, all medications affect different people in different ways. There are other unwelcomed side-effects that may occur, far more serious than the more common ones mentioned but they are rare and generally unheard of in healthy adults.
Androgel Dosing
Dosing of Androgel varies from person to person and will be decided by your doctor. Typically we can safely say most Androgel users will be prescribed 5g per day and up to 10g in some cases. It is very rare for prescriptions to be prescribed in larger amounts than 10g.
Androgel Application
To apply your Androgel you only need to rub the clear cream on your shoulders or upper arms; in some cases your doctor may recommend application on the abdomen; discuss with your doctor the preferred method to best fits your needs. It is very important you do not wash the area where Androgelis applied for approximately four hours so as to allow proper absorption of the drug; avoid showers, as well as swimming and any activity that may cause you to sweat excessively until the medication has had time to absorb. It is also very important to ensure proper absorption that the applied area is well cleaned before application.
